Saturday morning bloomed bright and balmy for March, as the dressage arena was set up in the indoor in preparation for the Nicole Trapp Dressage Clinic. Participants cleaned up muddy horses and blew the dust off their show clothes as the clinic started early Saturday and the judge, Nicole, took careful notes and gave lengthy feedback to riders.
The sun was bright and the temperatures soared as the day continued with a lecture from Nicole on what judges look for when gauging test scores, and how to improve your riding for the upcoming show season. Tips ranged from simple hints like "Read the rule book!" to "Train at the level above your test level", and was chock full of suggestions and insights.
Riding continued into the beautiful afternoon and onlookers (including club president Sarah Springborn!) enjoyed watching the tests and hearing the feedback for riders. The afternoon also included the farewell to former Hoofer horse, Hoss, as he embarked on the trip to his new home.
It was a great kickoff to our upcoming show season, beginning with our first schooling show on May 7th/8th. Click on our Show Page for more information about the Hoofer Riding Club Summer Schooling Show season!
