Donate Your Horse to the Hoofer Riding Club
As a self-supporting organization, the Hoofer Riding Club relies heavily on the generosity of its donors. Nowhere is this more important in the success of the HRC than in the talented group of school horses that helps educate our members.
Our herd is comprised of a variety of breeds from diverse backgrounds, including being imported from outside the United States. Many of them have had successful show careers from “A” circuit hunter/jumper shows to USDF Region 2 shows at such venues as Lamplight and Silverwood.
Our horses give us so much and their health and well-being is our utmost priority. We strive to give them a balanced workload, both mentally and physically. They receive regular foot care and regular maintenance and vaccinations as needed
Our donors donate for a variety of reasons – from personal life changes to changes in the direction of their riding – for which they may receive tax benefits. Regardless of the reason, their desire for their horses to remain in active work and be loved and cared for prompts them to consider the Hoofer Riding Club for their equine partners.

The Practical Horseman article Donate Your Horse by Kip Goldreyer addresses many aspects of the equine donation process. For more information on the University of Wisconsin - Madison Hoofer Riding Club’s equine donation process, please contact our Donation and Sale Coordinator.
